A new
loyalty card system that requires no mailing, and activates instantly
at service counter. When a major food retailer heard about Active
Label® loyalty cards in 1998, it decided to put them to the
test. This new loyalty card program promised to slash fulfillment
costs, and cut the time it took to deliver permanent plastic cards
to customers from about three weeks to three minutes. The Active
Label® cards passed with flying colors - and today, they are a customer
service staple in the chain's supermarkets coast-to-coast.
Peel, stick, and shop. Patented in 1996, the Active Label® card is
an on-site, plastic card issuance system. Each plastic card arrives
at the store with its own number, bar code, encoded magnetic stripe,
and removable "active label" that bears the number imaged on the
plastic card. The courtesy rep simply peels off the reusable "active
label," applies it to the customer's completed application - and
the plastic card is ready for use.
The card's inventor and patent holder, Arthur Blank & Company -
the leading private label plastic card printer in the US - sells
its card system through a nationwide dealer network.
